Neon Atlas visited Myrtleville in February when they were shooting a video for their single ‘Velocity’. Now they are back in an official capacity to launch second album ‘Graffiti Reality’. They will be joined on Saturday 18th August by guests We The People and Me In Time. The show kicks off at 8pm and continues till midnight.

Cork-based Neon Atlas have been in existence in one form or another since early 2013. Their debut album ‘Absolute Magnitude’, was primarily the brainchild of singer-songwriter Kieran Ring and producer Ciaran O’Shea. The nine tracks that comprise their debut LP were recorded over a nine month period during 2013, and entirely performed by the duo themselves.

Musically, ‘Absolute Magnitude’ provided enough variety to keep listeners enticed from beginning to end. The album showed off Ring’s talent as a balladeer and O’Shea’s talent as a producer in equal measure. Drawing on friends a fellow musicians, a live band was formed in early 2014 to promote their debut long-player, and to add to their already formidable arsenal in the studio.

2014 was a busy year for the band. ‘Absolute Magnitude’ enjoyed storming reviews. The band travelled to the BBC studios in London where they performed a prestigious live session to over 3 million people for the Dermot O’Leary show on BBC Radio 2. On the back of their BBC recognition they were guests at the Dublin ‘Working Class Heroes’ showcase, played an in-store session at Grafton St. HMV, featured on MTV’s ‘Crashes Cork’, rocked the Indiependence Music Festival, and featured on the First Music Contact Tour with Fight Like Apes.

Despite this busy schedule, the band have recorded ‘Graffiti Reality’ their follow-up to ‘Absolute Magnitude’ with O’Shea, which will hit the stores in July 2015.
